Founder
Rhian Allvin has spent her career building, leading, and advocating for stronger early childhood education systems. As founder of Brynmor Early Education & Preschool, she brings decades of national, state, and local experience to a growing organization that now serves children and families across three locations: Lorton, VA; Foggy Bottom in Washington, D.C.; and Culpeper, VA.
Brynmor is built on the belief that children thrive when early childhood educators are respected, supported, and treated as professionals. Before founding Brynmor, Rhian served for nine years as chief executive officer of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. During her tenure, NAEYC strengthened its national policy and advocacy work, modernized its accreditation system, and helped lead Power to the Profession, a national effort to create a more unified early childhood education field.
Earlier in her career, Rhian helped shape Arizona’s early childhood system. She co-wrote the citizen ballot initiative that created First Things First, a public agency dedicated to helping Arizona children enter kindergarten ready to succeed. She later served as the organization’s chief executive officer.
Rhian has testified before the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions and is a trusted voice on the economics, policy, and implementation of high-quality early education. Her work has been featured by national media including Good Morning America, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, and National Public Radio.
At Brynmor, Rhian and her team are putting that experience into practice by creating joyful, high-quality early learning environments where children are nurtured, families are supported, and educators are valued.
Rhian is married to Paul Allvin, and they live in Falls Church, VA with their three children and two dogs.
