Lorton, VA – New high quality child care is coming to Fairfax County, Virginia in the fall of 2023. Brynmor Early Education & Preschool (Brynmor) will open its doors to children six weeks through five years of age at the newly redeveloped Liberty Market in Lorton. There are more than 1000 children birth to five within ten minutes of Lorton, VA without access to child care.
At a time of uncertainty in the American child care industry, Brynmor’s vision is to bring reliable, high quality early childhood education that is within reach for every child, family and community. The company is committed to ensure that each child reaches her or his full potential while enabling parents to do their best work with peace of mind because their children are safe, loved and thriving. Brynmor is making preparations to hire well-qualified and passionate early childhood educators whom parents will respect and value for the critical role they will play in the development and learning of young children.
Anticipation is building for the fall opening in Lorton’s historic Liberty Market redevelopment, which now features a vibrant array of residential housing, retail, and dining. The site is located minutes away from major federal, state and private employers, just off of the I-95 and Lorton Rd. Pre-enrollment is on track to begin in May 2023.
“Our passion starts with the health, well-being and joy of young children, their families and the communities in which they live and work,” said Brynmor CEO Rhian Evans Allvin. “We are a privately owned business established with the belief that private companies have a responsibility to be a force for good. We believe that the growth of our company must be in partnership with the children and families we serve, the early childhood educators and staff we employ and the companies and public agencies with whom we partner.”
Allvin said Brynmor has partnered with HighScope on a carefully curated curriculum that reflects the best of contemporary science and practice in early childhood development, and is recruiting the community’s most sought after early childhood educators, with the experience and passion to bring joy to the children and families who walk through our doors every day. Designs are being finalized for a campus that will feature a wrap-around developmental environment including premium, whimsical furnishings and play environments indoors and outdoors designed to maximize the developmental potential of each child.
Allvin, who founded Brynmor, has spent her career promoting and advocating for the federal, state and local systems and structures that lead to high quality early childhood education for all children and professional careers for early childhood educators. Rhian served as the CEO at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) until May 2022. Earlier in her career Rhian was the CEO at First Things First, Arizona’s public-private partnership tasked with distributing more than $130 million each year in tobacco revenue to support a system of early childhood health and development and a Senior Advancement Officer at the Arizona Community Foundation where she helped donors connect their philanthropy to community needs.
